My career journey began in the world of beauty. I honed my knack for color, product knowledge, connection and making clients feel beautiful as a sales associate at Bare Escentuals. Little did I know, this people-first approach would become a hallmark of my work.
Once I finished college and moved to Chicago, I then spent 8 years at Creative Circle, starting as a Project Manager for their recruitment team. After a couple years I was able to transition into an Account Coordinator role that allowed me to support the sales side of the business and work directly with clients instead of candidates.
During this time, I also co-ran a storefront theater company, The Right Brain Project. I acted as an assistant to the artistic director and marketing director. But actually, what didn't I do? If you know anything about storefront theater, you know it's all hands on deck to keep the doors open. I helped curate our seasons, managed press communication and reviews, acted in the productions, and planned fundraising events - all to keep the art alive.
I continued to rise through the ranks at Creative Circle. When their new creative services branch C360 was gearing up to launch, I was asked to join the four person team. I loved being a part of building this completely new offering that was built to mimic the standard creative agency. In the hybrid Engagement Producer role, I developed expertise in creative staffing, project management, and agency operations. I then transitioned into the Associate Engagement Manger role where I bridged the gap between talent and clients, fully managing and delivering impactful projects for a roster of big-name brand.
Once I moved to LA, I felt like I'd hit my ceiling with Creative Circle and C360. I made the move to a local boutique agency, Clever Creative, where I took on a Project Manager role supporting video, design, and branding initiatives.
Seeking greater flexibility and earning potential, I next explored the world of experiential marketing, working as a Time Share sales specialist at Crypto arena and festivals/events in the Los Angeles area. This high-energy, improvisational environment allowed me to thrive. Growth opportunities were presented to me but the rigid business model and high-pressure tactics ultimately didn't align with my people-first approach.
After the timeshare sales role, I returned to retail, working in sales at a men's retail store on the iconic Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles. This commission-based position allowed me to further hone my natural sales abilities while tapping into my love of fashion and styling. I made so many amazing connections (I was actually connected to my acting manager by one of my customers), but my earning was capped by the store's foot traffic and I didn't have any control over that.
Pivoting again, I tried my hand at life insurance sales, hoping to secure the financial freedom to support my creative passions. I spent the time and money for my certification with very high hopes! But I found that selling a product that required me to instill a sense of fear in people didn't align with my values.
My most recent role as a Solar Consultant allowed me to combine my sales prowess with a genuine passion for sustainability. I excelled at educating clients and helping them access renewable energy solutions. However, I found that I didn't want to be making all of these amazing connections with people as their 'solar girl.' No matter what kind of 'money' I was making, I was pulled to invest more energy into my creative work and pursuits.
Now, as I embark on the next chapter of my career journey, I'm excited to apply the full breadth of my experiences - from sales and client services to creative project management and production - to fulfill my passion for storytelling and imaginative, people-centric work. Whether on set, in a studio, or in a consultative role, I'm ready to create meaningful connections and bring impactful ideas to life.
